In 2007 Japan had reached the state of a hyper-aged society with at least 21% of population represented by people aged 65 years and older and projections for a further rise to 40% by 2060. Thus, a severe shortage of nursing personnel and an increasing demand of care is accelerating the development and implementation of human assistant robots with the government pushing forward for a “Robot Revolution”.
Against this background, the presentation will provide an overview of various aspects of the Japanese human assistant robotics market and will conclude with an analysis on the obstacles and opportunities for European companies aiming to enter this particular market.
